Dispatcher Services
HSTL has you covered — professional dispatching for owner operators and carriers.
What Is a Freight Dispatcher?
A freight dispatcher acts as the operational backbone between carriers and brokers. At Harden & Stanley, our dispatchers handle the heavy lifting — finding loads, negotiating rates, managing paperwork, and keeping your truck moving — so you can focus on driving and earning.
Freight Dispatcher Terms with Carriers
Dispatch Fee
A percentage of the gross load rate charged by the dispatcher for each load booked. This fee covers load sourcing, rate negotiation, and broker communication. 5% per load if you pay a monthly subscription of $9.99, or 10% per load if you are not in the HSTL carrier network.
Requirements to Work with HSTL Solutions
Before we can begin dispatching loads for your truck, the following documents and credentials must be on file.
MC Authority
Active Motor Carrier operating authority issued by the FMCSA, legally permitting you to haul freight for hire.
Cargo Insurance
Minimum $100,000 in cargo insurance coverage. HSTL can assist carriers in obtaining or verifying coverage.
Signed W-9
Required for tax reporting purposes. Must be completed and signed before your first load.
Notice of Assignment
Used for factoring arrangements. Notifies the broker that invoice payments are to be directed to your factoring company.
Dispatch-Carrier Agreement
A signed contract outlining the scope of dispatcher services, fee structure, and responsibilities of each party.
Limited Power of Attorney
Authorizes HSTL Solutions to negotiate rates, sign rate confirmations, and communicate with brokers on your behalf.
What HSTL Solutions Negotiates on Your Behalf
As a guaranteed benefit of joining the HSTL carrier network, our dispatchers fight for every dollar you are owed on every load.
Rate Confirmation
We review and confirm every rate before you roll, ensuring the agreed-upon rate, pickup and delivery details, and special instructions are locked in — no surprises at the dock.
TONU (Truck Order Not Used)
If a broker cancels after you have been dispatched or are en route, we pursue TONU compensation on your behalf so you are never left empty-handed for time already spent.
Detention Pay
When a shipper or receiver holds you beyond the free time window, we negotiate and document detention pay so your waiting time is compensated — not absorbed as a loss.
Lumper Fee Reimbursement
When third-party labor is required to load or unload your freight, we document the charges and submit reimbursement requests to the broker on your behalf.
Deadhead Miles Reduction
We strategically source loads close to your current location to minimize unpaid miles, keeping more money in your pocket on every run.
